Take It One Meal At A TimeThis week on Facebook and IG I asked: How do you decide what to eat at your next meal or snack? Have you ever given this much thought? I don't believe most people realize how much thought they put into the content their next meal, but we're going to explore this topic in more detail today! How often do you decide what to eat at your next meal based on what you ate earlier in the day, or over the last few days? For example, if you're craving pizza for dinner but had pasta for lunch, even if you're hungry- do you still opt for the pizza or do you alter your dinner decision based on your lunch pasta? Before healing my relationship with food, I was always planning out my meals in advance. Any last minute change of plans escalated my anxiety through the roof! Can you relate? ? I understand what it feels like to sacrifice spontaneity for a sense of control. But please know- freedom with food & your body is possible, and you deserve to live a life of pleasure and spontaneity, if you desire it! One seemingly simple, but deceivingly difficult, way to begin to start to heal is by taking each day as it comes to you, and viewing each meal with a fresh perspective. This allows you to check in with what your body is truly craving for each individual meal. By continuing to check in with the body, you are developing a deeper connection to your body and it's needs. Over time this will become second nature and you will be so in-tune with your body you won't have to deliberate and negotiate with it as you're deciding on your next meal or snack. As with any relationship, it takes time, patience, and communication to keep it healthy & strong- and your relationship with your body is no different. As you are re-learning how to nourish yourself there will be times when you fail, and that's ok! As I navigated this new relationship I learned how certain foods felt in my body at various times of the day. No diet or eating plan can serve as an adequate substitute for establishing a healthy relationship with your body's needs Knowing how your body works, what it craves, and how certain foods feel in YOUR body is priceless! Here's to beginning a transformed relationship with your body & food!
