When I was a chronic dieter, I lived in one of two states of mind: When I tried to be relaxed around food, I lived in fear of gaining weight, and when I was dieting, I was in fear that I wouldn’t be able to lose weight again.

Little did I know that by living in chronic stress and anxiety, I was doing more harm to my body than any diet. You see, the body doesn’t know the difference between an actual threat to it’s safety and a diet, so it reacts in the same way: it looks to protect you & your health by holding onto food and energy, thinking it’s in a state of emergency.
The body is acting out of love for you when it does this, but because you have your blinders up & are in full-on diet mode, this is interpreted as the body turning against us. And we may then restrict even further, or turn up our workouts, further continuing the war between the body and the mind.
What if there was another way? What if you chose peace instead of war? What if you waved the white flag of surrender and allowed yourself to sink into what the body was truly asking for- whether it’s rest, movement or (gasp!) carbs? A life free from food and body obsession IS possible, and you are so deserving of a peaceful relationship with our body & food.
