Living In Flow: The Ovulatory Phase

Last week I introduced the concept of living in the flow of your natural cycles and discussed Phase 1: the Follicular Phase. This week we're moving on to Phase 2 of our 28-day cycle: the Ovulatory Phase. 
​Let's explore how to make the most of our cycles and live in the flow of our life!
As women we are taught that our cycles are dirty or shameful. Many of us grew up without discussing this natural and beautiful part of being a women. It's no wonder that we are living out of sync! However it's never too late to connect with our natural flow. 

If you missed my previous post about cycle syncing and Phase 1, go back and read it here. It will offer you a great foundation for starting your cycle syncing journey!
Phase 2 is known as the Ovulatory Phase
​As the name suggests, during the Ovulatory Phase we release an egg that travels to the uterus. You may even experience some pelvic pain as the egg releases. ​

Right now I'm laying out some basics of each phase and will continue to go in more depth as we go along. There's so much to discuss and it can get overwhelming!
Here are a few things to keep in  mind during your Ovulatory Phase:
  • This phase lasts 3-4 days in duration
  • With the release of your egg you may experience a surge of energy or a feel a sense of depletion
  • Community and connection are key during this phase! What does that mean? This is the perfect time to have some difficult discussions you've been putting off. Or maybe you've been wanting to put yourself out there and ask for a promotion or a raise? Schedule a meeting with your boss during your Ovulatory Phase to give yourself a winning edge!
  • You are at your most fertile during this time, and biologically (without realizing it) we put extra effort into looking and feeling our best- so go on a blind date or make a romantic reservation with your sweetie!
  • Your energy and mood is high and stable during this phase. Make food choices during this phase that support your vascular health. This includes lots of veggies and fruits. You don't need a lot of carbs during this phase so keep your grains light by eating foods such as corn and quinoa
  • Your energy levels are at their peak during this phase so don't be afraid to explore some high intensity exercises & weight lifting. To stay in line with our community & connection theme, group fitness classes will benefit you a lot during this phase

I'm excited to continue this cycle syncing journey with you! Here's to no longer living in shame of our cycles and harnessing their power to live our best lives!
