Discovering Your Body's WisdomToday we're talking about body wisdom. What does that even mean? In what ways has your body supported you, and how is it supporting you right now? Do you feel like your body supports you at all? Maybe you hear that question and get uncomfortable, thinking "my body betrays me all the time! I feel like it does the opposite of supporting me!" Maybe you feel betrayed by your body due to abuse, chronic illness, weight gain, constant cravings, or low energy levels. I can completely understand these feelings! It is completely normal to experience any or all of the above and feel great resentment and anger towards your body. You also have choices available to you when you realize you feel betrayed by your body. If not dealt with, our body physically stores trauma, anger, sadness and more. And how do these "issues in our tissues" show up if they're not dealt with? The longer we ignore the wisdom our body holds for us, the more our body will try to get our attention: first through short periods of skin issues, illness, or injury. Over time the body will increase it's attention-seeking behavior by introducing hormonal imbalances, chronic illness, exhaustion & depletion, lethargy, depression and beyond. What if you change the perspective of your body & your experiences living in your body? What if everything you have experienced in your body is providing you guidance & wisdom to live the life you are meant to live? To explore this from another angle: what if there are lessons to learn but instead of exploring these, you continue to ignore them and instead use this energy to focus on the food you're consuming and what workout you're going to do next? Can you see how this is simply another way to distract and look outside of the body, when your body is screaming to have a relationship with you? And by continuing to ignore the wisdom your body contains, you are missing out on the living the incredible life you are meant to live- how heartbreaking is that??! Please know that I am also not downplaying the extensive journey this is. It has taken you almost your whole life of learning to hate what you see in the mirror and talk poorly to yourself. Establishing and maintaining a new relationship with your body and food entails un-learning a lifetime of dysfunction and replacing it with a new loving relationship. That takes a lot of time and energy! This new relationship asks that you stop distracting and face all of your emotions, even the ones that make you feel not so great. But through this process you will learn things about yourself you may have never learned otherwise- like how brave & fierce & incredible you are I know this is true, and it's my mission to empower you to see this in yourself! When I say that I support women in finding the wisdom in their body's cravings- this is what I'm talking about! Taking this huge leap towards yourself. Because I know you are worthy of a big life, and I can't wait for you to know this about yourself also!
How have you been able to identify the wisdom in your body? Tell me about your experience with this journey- I love hearing from you! |
