Being anti-diet does not mean I’m anti-health. In fact, diets are inherently anti-health.
There’s a massive misconception that being anti-diet means I encourage clients to eat endless amounts of “junk food” day in and day out without moving their bodies.

Diets Have Failed YouHave you ever felt the high of starting a new diet? The excitement, the anticipation, the idea that your life will be better, starting tomorrow?
How could you NOT be excited about the promise of a new life- one in which you’re thin, happy, cooking organic food for your perfect family in your gorgeous kitchen? If diets can give me all of that- sign me up, right?! The only thing is… it’s all a façade. What are you really reaching for when you’re reaching for food?
Emotional eating is not inherently bad or shameful, but is instead a message from your body. It’s your body’s wisdom telling you what it’s in need of in that moment. By reaching for food to cope, we may be missing out on a great opportunity to ride a wave of emotion.

Stumbling Towards AwarenessLast week after George Floyd’s murder, my first instinct was to write and post, as writing is a form of therapy for me. While then immediately also acknowledging that my voice was not the voice that needed to be heard. Allowing space to be open to receive words, voices, and materials of those who experience racism that’s as present as the air we breathe.
It’s amazing how body image insecurities can seemingly come out of nowhere. A smell, a store, a perceived glance- sometimes it can send us into a spiral that was unexpected.
Warmer weather and all that comes with it (more exposed skin, pool parties, beach trips, etc), can have your body image insecurities screaming louder than ever! |
