2020 has been rough, y'all. But this holiday season doesn't have to be.
You know those big questions that can feel super scary? Those questions about if you’ll ever fulfill your life’s purpose, if you should stay with your partner, if you’ll ever find peace or if you’ll EVER feel like you’re worthy… yep, those questions. The answers to these questions can seem so scary you may not want to even think about them, let alone ask them.
But what if you could ask them in a safe space, knowing you would be receiving the answer not from another person, but from a deep wisdom within yourself? And what if you could ask them with a knowing that wrong decisions don’t exist?
How many hours have you spent researching a decision? How much energy have you drained talking to friends and family about a choice that needs to be made? How many pro/con lists have you written, or nights you’ve lost sleep over something that’s out of your control?
All of these are characteristics of the mind dominating how you live.
Do you find yourself living in a constant state of anxiety around the size & shape of your body? When I was a chronic dieter, I lived in one of two states of mind: When I tried to be relaxed around food, I lived in fear of gaining weight, and when I was dieting, I was in fear that I wouldn’t be able to lose weight again.
Can you relate?
Have you ever felt the high of starting a new diet? The excitement, the anticipation, the idea that your life will be better, starting tomorrow?
How could you NOT be excited about the promise of a new life- one in which you’re thin, happy, cooking organic food for your perfect family in your gorgeous kitchen? If diets can give me all of that- sign me up, right?! The only thing is… it’s all a façade.
What does it mean for a diet to WORK?
Let's explore how, even though we KNOW diets don't work long-term, we continue to reach for them.
I'll admit it- dieting can be fun! The high and anticipation of starting a new diet, the comrade you feel when you diet with friends or family, the compliments you receive when you lose weight – it’s addicting & it may keep you coming back for more. Although I’m anti-diet, I can’t deny the appeal of it. I have also found myself swept up in the promises made to me by diets.
